ABOUT US

Grace Womens Project aims to address and tackle the problem of destitution and homelessness experienced by many women as a result of the current government No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) policies.  As a result of NRPF policies, women are left destitute, with no access to help, housing or financial support leaving them at high risk of abuse, sexual exploitation or forced servitude.

Grace Womens Project was launched to provide safe accommodation and access to the basic essentials such as food and clothing for women in crisis.  This is the first dedicated womens accommodation project in Scotland to provide up to 12 months support for women facing this desperate situation.

According to the UNHCR (2020):  A refugee is a person who:

‘owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country’.  source: UNHCR - Asylum in the UK.

Many arriving in the UK seeking asylum are fleeing war, persecution, torture or humanitarian injustices in their home nations and have been forced to leave in search of safety and freedom.  Unfortunately, many migrants and asylum seekers experience rejection, further oppression and are marginalised as a result of hostile UK government policies towards immigration.

OUR AIMS

Grace Womens Project aims to offer a holistic service for women to meet their immediate basic needs.

We aim to ensure that many of the staff or volunteers have lived, or in-depth, experience of the immigration system to ensure we provide an expert and responsive service, with a depth of knowledge related to specific issues and challenges experienced.

OUR MISSION

We strive for a world without hate. A world where people are treated with respect and kindness.  We hope for a society that is equal and offers opportunities for all.  We believe that women are of great value and aim to create a supportive network that believe amazing things can happen when women support, value and encourage each other.

We are on a mission to become a strong support for those women that feel forgotten and hopeless.

We are on a mission to raise awareness of the injustices faced by many women that are at risk of harm because of current UK Government policies, particularly No Recourse to Public Funds, that is forcing many women into complete destitution and hopelessness.
